The App Fair Project: Trust & Safety Policy
This policy applies to apps, listings, updates and developer activity distributed through the App Fair, alongside the app rules and developer agreement.
Prohibited content and behavior
The App Fair does not permit:
- Malware, potentially harmful apps, unauthorized access or interference with devices, networks, other apps or security controls.
- Fraud, scams, impersonation, deceptive listings, hidden functionality or misleading or disruptive installation practices.
- Illegal content or activity, intellectual property infringement, child sexual abuse or exploitation material, non-consensual intimate imagery, terrorist content, or threats and incitement to violence.
- Privacy violations, undisclosed data collection, or advertising, analytics, tracking and telemetry prohibited by the app rules.
Apps must respect user consent and platform controls for installation, permissions and updates. Developers must provide accurate listings, relevant legal and safety disclosures and working contact details.
Children and parental controls
Developers must identify age-restricted content and any child-directed features, describe relevant safeguards and available parental controls, and comply with applicable age-assurance, privacy and child-protection laws. Apps must respect device and platform parental controls and must not bypass restrictions on installation, access or permissions. Users can manage available family restrictions in their device settings; availability varies by platform. Where additional parental controls or age safeguards are legally required, the affected content or feature may be offered only once those safeguards are in place.
Review and enforcement
The App Fair reviews submissions before distribution and monitors its catalog and reports for fraudulent, malicious, illegal or otherwise prohibited activity. Review may include source and license checks, automated checks and manual assessment, depending on the submission and risk. Public source and platform review do not guarantee safety or replace the App Fair’s responsibility for its catalog.
We assess reported issues and take proportionate action, which may include requesting information or corrections, restricting distribution, removing an app or suspending a developer’s participation. Major security vulnerabilities must be addressed; affected releases may be withheld or removed while a remedy is pending. Urgent protective action may precede notice. Developers may request reconsideration with relevant information. Applicable legal requirements govern notices and responses.
Reports and support
Send security, fraud or content concerns to safety@appfair.net, identifying the app, version, issue and relevant evidence. Do not send unlawful material; provide its location instead. Vulnerabilities may be reported privately to security@appfair.net.
Legal and government removal requests and intellectual property disputes have dedicated channels. General questions and payment concerns can be sent to customer support. We review requests in light of their urgency and applicable obligations. This policy may be updated as the service develops.
