App rules
Apps distributed through the App Fair must meet these rules. They apply to new apps and updates. Developers can find the submission requirements in the inclusion criteria.
Always free
App Fair apps are free to download and use. No in-app purchases, subscriptions to unlock app features, or paid upgrades are permitted.
No advertising
Apps contain no ads or advertising SDKs. Their purpose is to provide the app’s features, not to sell your attention.
No analytics or tracking
Apps contain no analytics, tracking or telemetry SDKs, and do not collect usage data for those purposes. Network access and permissions must serve a stated app feature. The listing and privacy information must explain what data the app uses and where it goes.
Source you can inspect
The app’s source code and release history are public. You can inspect how it works, review changes and report problems. Apps use the AGPL-3.0-only license with the App Fair Distribution Exception; included libraries must also be free software. Closed-source components cannot be bundled into an app.
Review before publication
The App Fair reviews each submitted release and builds it from the identified source commit before publishing it. Store review is a separate step. Public source and review make problems easier to investigate; they do not guarantee that an app has no defects.
Report a problem
Use the app’s support link to report bugs. If an app appears to violate these rules, contact the App Fair with the app name, version and a description of the problem.
These rules may change as the project develops. See the developer inclusion criteria for the current requirements.
